Art Fair Suomi Goes Galleries kicks off the visual arts summer of Helsinki in June 2021. The festival will spread across galleries and exhibition spaces in Helsinki from 8.–13.6.2021.

Art Fair Suomi Goes Galleries turns the spotlight on galleries, artists, art communities and the public. A joint effort by more than 20 Helsinki-based art galleries, the festival features work by nearly 100 artists. Customarily held at the Cable Factory, the international event responds to the pandemic by presenting itself in the participating galleries and art spaces themselves, offering a safe and convenient way to enjoy contemporary art.

The week-long festival is a great opportunity to experience all kinds of galleries and art across the city. Visit the exhibitions on your own or choose from many guided tours, discussions, workshops and other events. All exhibitions and nearly all events are free of charge, and many of them can also be attended virtually. The festival programme will be completed during May 2021.

Thanks to the numerous venues and smaller events of this year’s Art Fair Suomi, the festival can be organised even with the pandemic-related restrictions. We follow all safety restrictions and recommendations closely. Follow our website and social media channels to keep up-to-date.

You are most warmly welcome!

About the galleries

Art Fair Suomi Goes Galleries wants to highlight the galleries and exhibition spaces of Helsinki and their year-round activities. Indeed, the galleries and exhibition spaces of Art Fair Suomi produce cultural offering around the year – and free of charge for the audience!

Galleries offer lively and experimental visual arts productions and introduce artists from emergent creators to well-known names. The spectrum of galleries in Helsinki and in Finland is rich and varies: there are private galleries, association galleries and artist-led project spaces.

Besides visiting exhibitions, you can also buy art from galleries. In May 2021, we will publish an art purchasing guide, where we will shed light on how to buy art. We want to break the myth that purchasing art is difficult and too expensive, because really, it does not have to be either.

Organisers

The Art Fair Suomi contemporary art festival has been organised since 2005 by Artists’ Association MUU and Association of Photographic Artists in Finland. Other national artist membership organisations that joined the festival in 2020 are: Association of Finnish Sculptors, Association of Finnish Printmakers, Finnish Painters’ Union, and the Union of Finnish Art Associations.
