Meet the artist: Einari Hyvönen
Thu 15.6.2023 @ 14:00–16:00
Meet the artist Einari Hyvönen!
Einari Hyvönen (b. 1989) lives and works in Helsinki, Finland. He earned his MFA from the Academy of Fine Arts, Uniarts Helsinki in 2021. He has exhibited nationally as well as in Europe, most recently in Milan and London.
His work focuses on universally recognised crisis, from personal tragedies to existential conflicts. Joyous scenes with giddy imagery contradict the underlying gloom. This tragicomic tone produces narratives that bring a sense of ease to the otherwise uncomfortable topics. Nostalgic digital aesthetics counter a manual paint application which creates a purposely warped and whimsical landscape.
Hyvönen’s works have been acquired by The Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Finnish State Art Commission, The Fund of Päivi and Paavo Lipponen Art Collection, Tampere Art Museum and private national and international collections.
